The Words of Our Testimony and a Four-Year-Old

I love Sundays! I start my day with some amazing worship, and then I usually end it with family. What could be better?

Words of Our Testimony

We had an acoustic church worship service today, which changes it up a little bit from the full band. One piece of a song performed really resonated with me during the initial song and throughout the rest of the message.

"Yes, We will overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony."
--Desperation Band

This part of the song shows up exactly 5 minutes into this video.

Simple line, I know. It is what it is, but it can be so hard to embrace it. Throughout the sermon, which happened to approach the issue of sexual purity, this line consistently came back to me as my pastor brought up "overcoming" struggles with sin. And we can overcome that. "The word of our testimony" lyrics were screaming at me. I forgot how important our testimony is, and how essential our struggles are for our testimony. Again, "Yes, we will overcome, by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony." Just breathe.

After church and some work, I jumped on the trampoline and played some catch on the pitch-back. Today was especially beautiful, and I spent most of it frolicking in the sunshine. Unfortunately I got scraped up, but how refreshing it is to feel like a little kid with scraped knees again!

My sister, brother-in-law, and nephew (Drey) came over for dinner. Drey and I made cookies afterwards; it's kind of our thing for him to help me cook."Aunt KD, lets make pancakes!" he always says.

Words of a 4-Year-Old

Now Drey being all of four-years-old, always has some interesting things to say, even if it means pronouncing them wrong. He was playing with two toy bunnies, one small and one large, and looked at his dad and said, "Look it's me loving on Daddy!" My sister then looked and jokingly said, "Oh, you don't love Mommy?" Then Drey responded with, "The big one is Mommy AND Daddy. They are the same bunny!"
I was so astonished by these words that I actually had to get up from the table and grab my bible. I came to this scripture:

"This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one. Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together." --Matthew 9:5-6

This concept seems to have been lost or, much less, understood, even by married people, but to a four-year-old it makes perfect sense. Interesting.

Tonight, my prayers will be dedicated to broken marriages/families. May God dwell in their hearts.
Blessings.

love,
kd
